Nominations for Gifted and Talented Program

The Wylie Independent School District is welcoming nominations for Gifted and Talented screening and testing.  Nomination packets will be available in the campus counselor’s office beginning on November 2, 2018.  The nomination period ends on January 11, 2019. Nomination packets are available from the campus counselor.  Nominators are urged to begin the paperwork at the earliest time possible.  The state definition of “gifted and talented student"  [is] . . .  a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experiences or environment.  This process includes multiple and specific criteria as required by the Texas Education Agency. Wylie ISD identifies and serves gifted students in grades K-12.

Superintendent's Message

Welcome to Wylie Independent School District! I hope you will explore our Web site to learn more about our district, including our goals and achievements. This site is designed to be a resource for the entire community as we raise the bar and provide the instruction and the support every student needs for academic success. On our Parents' page, you’ll find links to bus schedules, lunch menus, health requirements, enrollment/application procedures, and other resources that help parents stay fully engaged throughout their child’s education. You may also want to visit the Web pages of individual schools. The Students' page offers online homework help, links to other Web sites that let students practice their skills, and even educational games. The Students' page also provides information on sports, clubs, and other school activities. Wylie I.S.D. is a community that passionately cares about education. Working together, we can ensure all students are able to grow academically in a learning environment that ultimately prepares them to succeed in a global, knowledge-based economy.

Sincerely,

Joey Light
