Wylie ISD Congratulates the March Student Athletes of the Month

Wylie ISD and Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union would like to congratulate the six Wylie High School students selected as the WHS Student-Athletes of the Month for March 2025.

Jake Bearden

Senior

Jake plays on the Wylie varsity baseball team and was also a member of the district-champion Bulldog football team. He also competes on the WHS bass fishing team. Outside of school, Jake loves to pursue his passion of hunting and fishing, and he adds he is loving every day. After graduation, he plans to attend Abilene Christian University.

Kaitlyn Farias

Senior

Kaitlyn is a multi-year letterwinner for the Wylie softball program. She is also a member of the WHS National Honor Society, she volunteers at the Christian Service Center, and she attends church at Southern Hills Church of Christ. Kaitlyn will continue her softball playing career at Western Texas College in Snyder where she will pursue a degree in Kinesiology.

Gage Heighten

Senior

Gage is a regional qualifier in track and played wide receiver for the Bulldog football team. He participates in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization, and he also attends church at Beltway South. Gage plans to attend Abilene Christian University next fall.

Brin Heuerman

Senior

Brin continues to excel as a member of the Wylie track team in her senior year. Off the track, she is a leader in the WHS Unified Bulldogs program, a program that empowers individuals with and without intellectual disabilities to engage through the power of sports. Brin goes to Southern Hills Church of Christ and recently volunteered on a mission trip in Denver, Colorado called Drybones. She has also volunteered at Eggstravaganza, the Kids Eat for Free program, the Sweetheart Banquet at Southern Hills, and the Special Olympics. She also attended High School Retreat 2025 and Southern Hills Church camp 2025. Brin plans to attend Abilene Christian University and major in Interior Design.

Aiden Poage

Junior

Aiden recently completed a successful junior season with the WHS powerlifting team. In his free time, you’ll find Aiden working out in the gym. He volunteers every Thanksgiving and Christmas distributing turkeys and hams to people who cannot afford one during the holiday season. After his time at WHS, Aiden plans to attend college and get a degree in Kinesiology. He also plans to pursue competitive powerlifting through the International Powerlifting Federation.

Nayeli Quintero

Senior

Nayeli is a state-qualifier this season for the WHS powerlifting team, finishing in 14th place at the state meet. She is also a member of the WHS student council and the HOSA program. Away from school, Nayeli works at H-E-B. She is looking forward to pursuing a career as a travel radiologist after graduation.
