🎖️💜 April is the Month of the Military Child! 💜🎖️
At last night’s School Board meeting, Wylie ISD proudly adopted a proclamation recognizing April as the Month of the Military Child. With over 1,000 military-connected students in our district, we are deeply honored to serve the families who serve our country.
Across Texas, more than 149,000 children have a parent serving in the military—whether active duty, National Guard, or Reserve. These children show incredible strength, resilience, and heart as they navigate the challenges of military life.
This month, and every month, we are committed to supporting military families and providing a nurturing environment for every child who walks through our doors. 💜
To the men and women in uniform—thank you for trusting us with your children. While you take care of us, we promise to take care of them.

🔬 Science Comes Alive at Wylie East Junior High!
A HUGE thank you to Texas A&M Chemistry, Dow, and Shell USA for sponsoring an unforgettable science experience for our 6th grade students at WEJH!
The Texas A&M Chemistry Road Show rolled in all the way from College Station to wow our students with exciting experiments and real-world science demonstrations. With fire, color changes, and lots of “oohs” and “aahs,” the event made learning fun and unforgettable.
👨🔬 We’re so grateful to the amazing presenters and sponsors who helped spark curiosity and excitement for science in our students!

🐣 Wylie West Elementary’s First Spring Chick Winner!
Congratulations to our amazing Mrs. Anderson for being named the very first winner of our ‘Spring Chick’ Award at Wylie West Elementary! 🎉
Mrs. Anderson, a beloved first grade teacher, was recognized for the incredible work she does each day to create a safe, fun, and nurturing classroom where students feel valued and excited to learn.
💛💜 We’re so thankful for her dedication, positivity, and the joy she brings to our campus. Way to go, Mrs. Anderson—you’re egg-cellent!

📚 Two Million Words and a Side of Wings!
Oliver Aiken, a student at Wylie East Elementary, just hit a major milestone—he’s officially a Two Million Word Reader! That’s right… TWO. MILLION. WORDS. And to celebrate, he earned a well-deserved gift certificate to Buffalo Wild Wings! 🐔📖💥
To put that into perspective:
That’s the equivalent of reading 25-30 full-length novels
Or about 5,000 pages of text
Or roughly 40 hours of straight reading (without snacks!)
Oliver’s dedication to reading shows what happens when you find books you love and stick with them. We’re proud of his accomplishment and hope those wings are extra tasty—he earned every bite!
Way to go, Oliver! Keep turning those pages and chasing that next milestone.
